Primary 3-6

Welcome to our vibrant and engaging primary classroom! Our classroom is a carefully prepared environment where children aged 3 to 6 years old are encouraged to explore, learn, and grow at their own pace.

As you step into our classroom, you will notice a warm and inviting atmosphere filled with natural light, soft colors, and cozy learning spaces. The room is thoughtfully arranged with child-sized furniture and materials that are easily accessible to our young learners. Nature and natural materials are central to Montessori education, which is rooted in the principle of caring for the environment.

Our primary classroom is designed to foster independence, creativity, and a love for learning. Children have the freedom to choose their activities and work at their own pace, developing important skills such as concentration, problem-solving, and decision-making along the way.

You will see children engaged in a variety of activities, from practical life tasks like pouring and sorting, to sensorial experiences with Montessori materials like the pink tower and sandpaper letters. Our classroom is a place where children can explore the world around them through hands-on learning and discovery in and out of the classroom.

Our dedicated Montessori-trained teachers guide and support each child on their individual learning journey, provide gentle encouragement, and foster a sense of community and respect among classmates.

We believe that every child is a unique individual with their own interests, strengths, and abilities. In our Montessori inspired primary classroom, we celebrate diversity, promote a love for learning, and create a supportive environment where each child can thrive and reach their full potential.

A day in the life of the Acres Grove Student

Students arrive and begin individual classroom activities between 7:30am and 8:30am. Our work period will start around 8:30am including OLE (Outdoor Learning Environment), indoor classroom lessons and work period, morning snack, and some outdoor free play. Lunch will be after our morning work period and transition to indoor rest or nap period based on the child’s needs and age. After the rest period, we plan to provide an afternoon snack and allow time for the children to transition to afternoon activities, extended day programming, additional outdoor activities, and free play. Most extended day activities will be complete by 4:30 as we have found most families pickup between the 4:00 and 5:30 timeframe. Our school will close at 5:30pm M-F.

We plan to shift this schedule during the warmer summer months so the children spend more outdoor time in the morning/early afternoon and spend more classroom time as the temperatures rise in the late afternoon.

*All snacks provided by Acres Grove. Students will be required to supply daily lunch. Please keep in mind that we are a nut free school.
